Vivian & Alvaro Wedding
Before you freak out, no, I am not becoming a wedding photographer. But I couldn’t have been more excited when my favourite runner couple here in Salzburg asked me if I wanted to capture their big day. First of all I freaked out that I have friends who are getting married, second of all, I freaked out because I had no exprience doing stuff like this. Hovewer, I trusted my abilities and said YES with the biggest smile. Only later did they add that the ceremony would be held in the majestic Mirabell Palace in Salzburg.
It was a really small wedding, which made it even more special for me to be a part of it. The ceremony was so beautiful, I had a hard time seeing what I was doing through my tears.
I don’t like wedding photography when it feels like the whole day is just a big production set and there is too much posing and “fake stuff”. But wow, being able to capture the candid moments, the abundance of emotions, while not getting in the way is a challenge I gladly took on.
After the beautiful ceremony, it was time for a little aperitivo, where I had to step up, do some directing and make people comfortable in front of the camera for the group photos. For me this part was the most stressful, trying to still get some good lights in the harsh daylight, avoid all the tourists and make sure each guest gets the formations they want. But I have to tell, it was a success and even I got some compliments for how I handled the situation :)
Yes, there are a lot of just normal group photos too, but I thought I wouldn’t bore you with those. As the guests slowly started making their way to the restaurant, where the rest of the day was spent, I grabbed my beautiful couple for a magazine style photoshoot in the Mirabell Garden. Despite the crazy amount of tourists on a hot summer day, we managed to get some pretty cool shots, I would say.
People we passed were so cute, smiling at us, some congratulating or even clapping. Felt like I’m walking around with celebrities. (To be fair, they are pretty cool)
Wedding also means food. A LOOT OF FOOD! What I really liked about this wedding that it was completely vegan! We had different cakes, appetisers, soup, main course, ice cream; we ate so much we could hardly move in the end.
To ease the food coma, we went for a scenic walk in the park, getting some more aesthetic shots with the sun setting behind the trees. Shoes were finally off, and I felt like this was the perfect way to end such a memorable day.
In conclusion, no, I don’t think I could shoot only weddings, but it is a beautiful thing to be part of and an exciting challenge. Soo in case you’re getting married and need someone to capture the day, please don’t hesitate to hit me up :)
